SELF-BACKWASHING FILTERS FOR THE PURIFICATION WATER

"It's like a house - built without a single nail!"

Aeration, degassing, stabilization, oxidation of contaminants, filtration of water, conditioning

The DEFERUM is a self-cleaning hydro-automatic water purification plant, containing an aerator-degasifier and a self-backwashing filter with a floating granular filtering media. The system configuration may slightly vary depending on the flow rate.

The DEFERUM is used for water treatment, for cleaning artezian water, or river water, or industrial water, or for biological treatment and post-treatment of raw water, and also apply before installations of reverse osmosis, ion exchange, etc

The DEFERUM is used for cleaning groundwater: if it contains: small (up to 10 ppm, medium (till 30 ppm) or very high (till 75 ppm) concentration of iron, and also: manganese, color, hydrogen sulfide, radon, carbon dioxide, methane, ammonium, odor, low pH and water temperature, "secondary" contamination of the filtrate due to the intense corrosion of steel pipes.

The "DEFERUM" is the most economical, effective and environment-friendly ground water treatment system on a market place.

Serial installation Deferum - factory-made production is made of polypropylene or steel, with a capacity of 2.2 gpm  to 90 gpm. Stationary Deferum are made of concrete

ADVANTAGES

• Removes up to 75 ppm of total iron, as well as dissolved gases and odor

• No chemical reagents

• Does not require electricity for the process

• Initial water pressure: gravity flow, or 0.5 to 4.5 bar (if necessary)

• Does not require an operator: "ON and forgotten"

• Self-regulating the specified level of pollutants

• No consumable parts and materials to be replaced

• Equipment for years does not require major repairs

• Filter loading has a service life of 25 years, without replacement

• Uses the backwash function, which quickly self-cleaning on the filter media, without using additional external water

• The installation can be placed under the winter open sky

• The filter backwash is self-regulating

• Zero backwash option available

• Backwash function is based entirely on gravity force.

BENEFITS

• Self-washing process requires 0.8 to 3% from output

  of pure water.

• Self-flushing time up to 3 minutes, while the supply of purified water for consumption does not stop

• Self-regulating natural water purification process

• Minimum costs for reagent free water treatment ($ 0.05 for 1000 gl.) and long-term filter life

In the photo: artesian water has a total iron> 20 ppm. The filtered water contains less than 0.2 ppm, which corresponds to the drinking water parameter

Technological process DEFERUM:

Initial water by an artesian pump under pressure is fed to the aerator-degasifier where intensive oxidation of iron ions and partially manganese ions occurs, and the dissolved gases are practically instantly removed to the atmosphere. Next, the treated water flows into the hydroautomatic filter with a floating polymeric filter media, where insoluble contaminants are filtered off, and organic substances, manganese and ammonium ions participate in the biological and chemical process of water purification. After filtration, the purified water enters the filtrate collector and then fed to the pump for consumption. When the hydraulic resistance of the filtering load increases, the water level in the hydro-robot increases and the filter starts to work in self-washing mode. The water from the superfiltration space rushes down, expands the floating filtering media and flushes the contaminants. The rinsing water is discharged into the sewer or sump, or in a specially designated place. After lowering the water level  to the set value at commissioning, the hydro robot independently stops the self-washing mode of the filter and again starting the filter into a new filtration cycle

Since 1990, we have been working with buyers, customers, licensees, general contractors, subcontractors, designers and lobbyists, with a well-known benefit to the Parties

Installations are manufactured and sold in Australia, Canada, USA, Holland, Colombia, New Zealand, Belarus, Ukraine, Brazil, Russia, etc.

We make a technical and economic proposal to the Client, in which we prove: reliability, quality, guarantees, benefits, in relation to other known alternatives

State recommendation: here

We are ready to make in our workshop a high-quality production and transport Deferum or to build a stationary installation of reinforced concrete from the customer, as well as to start and commission the Deferum

For example, a factory made of polypropylene or steel Deferum-90 gpm = 280 man-hours

Technical consultations is carried out by the author: by e-mail, telephone or personally

Quick payback, because:

• operating costs for reagent-free water treatment in Deferum: $0.04 for 1000 gl.

• costs for non-reagent water treatment, with Deferum amortization, for example, 25 years: $0.11 for 1000 gl.

Deferum Filtration, a Chemical Free Iron Removal System

One of our most popular systems is the environmentally friendly automatic system known as ‘Deferum’. It uses a reagent free removal system that is specially made for the high levels of dissolved iron and dissolved gases in the bore water found in World. These systems are capable of taking water to drinking water standards.

About Deferum Filtration

Deferum is a Latin term. It means simply ‘remove iron’. Deferum based water filtration systems use a hydro-automatic gravity filter to treat water and remove impurities. This ecologically friendly process can remove much more than iron. This system also removes dissolved gases such as hydrogen sulphide, methane, chromacity, manganese, radon, arsenic and carbon dioxide. Particulate and organic matter can be removed as well, making for a clean and pure end product. Deferum systems can deal with bore water with iron content between 0.3 and 50 ppm without reagent treatment. These systems are low maintenance and easy on the wallet. They use no pumps, no electrical parts and no valves. They have no rotating or other moving parts to wear out and require replacement. Most systems will rarely need maintenance after installation. Each system is easy to set up and does not require an operator, or even shelter. The actual filter is good for roughly 25 years and is made of easily sourced materials. Very few Deferum systems require anything to be replaced over the lifetime of the system.

The Technical Details

This process involves water from the bore being supplied at 65 psi to the first stage of the process. The aerator-degasifier removes the hydrogen sulphide and other dissolved gases. At the same time, atmospheric oxygen is introduced into the water until saturation is reached. It is then sent through the distributor and into the hydro-automatic filter with its floating polymer media. This media is what removes the iron and other suspended particulate matter. This takes place on all levels of the filter media bed. Treated water then flows to a storage tank through a discharge pipe. This process is entirely powered by gravity. As the media is contaminated by iron and other collected material, the water flow slows down. A vacuum is created in the system. This causes the system to switch to self-cleaning mode, or to backwash. The media is violently agitated and the impurities are rinsed into the backwash collection box.
